Look at you and how you usually start your day. Are you hitting the snooze button on your alarm clock multiply times until you finally give in and crawl your way out of bed? Or are you waking up fully recharged and filled with energy and enthusiasm to conquer any challenge that day will unfold for you? Realize that the way you start your morning will greatly influence your upcoming day, so give yourself a proper kick-start! Make it into a ritual.
There are a lot of very helpful morning rituals out there, that will immediately give you a lot of vitality. Just search the web and you will find plenty of them. Here is my list on how to start your day the best way!
- Motion is emotion. So do something with your body as soon as you wake up. Stretch, jump, exercise. Whatever puts your body in motion also accelerates your mind in the morning. Whenever I roll out of bed, I do everything to pump my current state. I am jumping while brushing my teeth, I do some workout afterwards, and later go for a short run (30 minutes). You cannot feel tired afterwards. Your body is ready for everything today.
- Drink a lot of water. Your body is dehydrated because it probably lost a lot of water in the night. Replenish it to give him back its needed energy. You will feel immediately refreshed and more powerful. I usually drink ice-cold water in the morning! Also eat a good breakfast. I recommend you to set your alarm clock at least 120 minutes before you have to leave the house. It sounds a lot, but you will need the time when you want to get the best out of your morning rituals. There is nothing worse than snoozing for about 20 minutes overtime and then rushing into work. It is just not helpful.
- Take a moment to reflect on why this day will be freaking amazing! When you have planned your day in advance you know exactly what you want to achieve this day and probably how you will do it. But first it is time to give yourself 5-10 minutes in the morning and spend it on you. Tell yourself what you are proud of. Reflect on what you did good in the past. Refresh your memories of your biggest successes in the last days, weeks, months. It will give you a sense of power and you will feel like you can take on every challenge. Focus on your greatest attributes and skills. Tell yourself what you love about yourself and why you deserve all this. Sometimes we forget the importance of that. We spend so much time thinking about others, that we might forget ourselves. Be happy with yourself and do not stop until you have at least spend five minutes (ten minutes are better) with you pep-talking yourself!
