Sometimes it’s important to not take shit too personally. There will always be people out there who will dump their own insecurities and bullshit on top of you. There will always be chaos which disrupts your order.
And then you might feel the urge to curse the world for all the hardship that befell you. But isn’t it true that life is suffering nonetheless? Haven’t all the major religions figured this out a long time ago? The Buddhists say that “life is suffering,” and aren’t we always suffering in one way or the other no matter what?
The worst part is that we are all going to die. Your loved ones, your friends, your family, and even you, with all your shiny little possessions you spent so much time and energy collecting. We are all doomed to turn back to dust. That’s the ultimate suffering, as no matter what we are trying to do about it, there is still this inevitable destiny we all share.
But shouldn’t that limited time also give our life more value too? And shouldn’t we then furthermore try to make this unavoidable hell at least as “bearable and worthwhile” as we can, while we still can?
Yes, there will always be people who treat you like crap and make you feel worse the more time you spend with them. But there is also a choice. A choice to be better nonetheless. And to not let the ever-present darkness which is all around us dim our light.
We are supposed to brighten the world with our individuality, and not let others mold it into something it is not. So don’t fall into the trap of assuming the world is planning a personal vendetta against you, but furthermore, step out into the darkness to light a fire, a beacon of hope for others to see and rally around.
It might not rid you of the inevitable darkness and ugliness of the world, but it will at least keep the wild animals away and also get you through the long and cold night, so you can fight and live for another day.
